Have you ever heard that you are the decision you take and the choices you make?

Yes, we truly are the decisions we take and the choices we make.

Have you ever paused to wonder why in the book of Joshua we are asked to choose this day whom we will serve? Joshua 24:15

The Youth Joseph was a very handsome young man ( else Portipher’s wife would not have had sleepless nights pursing him and persuading him to sleep with her, and who says he did not notice how beautiful she was too. He had blood flowing through his veins if you ask me) Gen 39:6-13. The issue was that this guy first knew who he was. Do you know who you are? What you carry? Who you serve?

Secondly , this young man knew the God of his father and he feared God. Did you read that part? HE FEARED GOD! I mean, would it not have been easy for you and I, youths in this present dispensation and generation to say hmmmm, oga wife like me, me I like am, na sharp sharp, no body go know, and then we go ahead and satisfy the lust of the flesh…… give in to ( my Father calls it five minutes enjoyment) and then what? That’s the question that should ring hard and well in our heads. THEN WHAT?

I will tell you in case you choose to deny the fact that you have the answer with you. When I give in to the cravings of my body… to the desires of my flesh… to the lust of my eyes….. and shut out the Spirit of God….. I loose a great lot of things…

  • The Sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit…. Adam enjoyed the fellowship of the Spirit of God Gen 3:8
  • The hedge of protection as a believer……..Job enjoyed 24 hrs security Job 1:10
  • Damnation of Soul Zechariah 3:1
  • Opening oneself to the darts of the Devil Zechariah 3:1

You will say ehen, sebi Joseph ended up in prison even though he did not do. I remember attending a youth camp some time ago and saw a question written down by youths who had camped before us, we used the same hall for Bible Study and Fellowship. This person had written “ if looking lustfully at a woman and sleeping with her is counted as sin, why don’t I just sleep with her and know that I did it” ? lies from the pit of hell… voices that belong to only Satan and his demons.

Back to Joseph,he asked a question a man of integrity would and should ask.Gen 39:9…Bro Gbile Akanni asked in one of his discipleship class… who are you when you are alone? Who are you when you are not with the other believers? Who are you when you are outside church?if your life was to be recorded throughout the week without your knowledge and permission, would you be proud to have it displayed on the screen for the whole church to watch on Sunday?

Who are you at home? At work? At school? Your business? Among you neighbours? Do people really want to know your Jesus or would they remain as they are in their self righteous life because of your life style?

Joseph feared God and thought it great wickedness to sin against this God. The God of his father whom he had come to know….. well.. if you know the story of this lad well as in if you have read it to the end, you will see that it paid off to ZIP UP.. to wait till and for your time… to hold on steadfastly to this your faith without wavering…..

I feel itchy to tell you about how it ended with JOSEPH but I will rather you read it up yourself.. Gen 41:37 -46

Daniel was one handsome young man whose country had been involved in war and they had taken him away to Babylon as a prisoner….

Ahhh we know how to lament na….. my parents are poor so I stole… She promised to sponsor my education so I kept her as my sugar mummy…. I came from a poor background, nobody to help so I joined cult and prostitution…. My parents died early,no help so I joined the armed robbery gang… chai!

Daniel was a young man…. A youth… like you and I. the Bible records that Daniel 1:8, he purposed in his heart not to defile himself…. Whaaat? You are still a virgin? In this jet age? Abeg you be jew ooo. Who marries Virgins these days? Some guys said to me some time ago as we discussed.. wetin I wan use virgin do na, na work be that oo, I don’t have patience to be teaching somebody abeg. If me and her must dey, make she find who go open the thing and teach her then make she come.

We are doing it in this office now, its normal… you and oga must date ooo, “oga wey don marry, get children”, my friend book an hotel and lets sleep together or no promotion for you! Just add exta “00” behind the figure, nobody will know, we will share the extra money amongst ourselves. We cant coman die in this office for nothing ooo.

We think we can not stand out. We think we can not live above sin. We think we can not stay without sinning.

I was in a fellowship and the brother ministering said… CHRISTIANS CANNOT SIN!!! A goat can not fly.. a bird can not swim… a lion can not talk, it will only roar. CHRISTIANS CAN NOT SIN. How can we sin when we have the life of Christ in our inside? How can we sin when we respect and fear the God in our lives? Noo, how can we sin when we profess and declare and announce that we are CHRISTIANS!

Its really about the decision we take and the choice we make! The decision to follow Christ and forsake the things of the world….. the choice to stay above sin, and respect and fear the God we serve, the God in our inside, the God in our lives and of our lives.

We sin when we first think about it,it is concieved in our hearts and minds, we play it out in our head and when the opportunity comes it meets preparedness and readiness on our part and BOOM, it happens! James 1:13 - 15

Have you given your life to Christ? NOW is the acceptable time… you and I do not have a control over the next minute. It might be late.

Why don’t you say the following words of prayer now:

Lord Jesus,I confess you as my Lord and Saviour, come into my heart and life today and be Lord of my Life. I forsake my sins and choose to follow you. Come and reign as God and Saviour in my life. Give me the Grace to follow you till the end. Thank you Jesus for answering my prayer IN JESUS NAME I PRAY,AMEN.
