We started on this topic yesterday, and we'll continue from there today.

    2. Look at his heart

Before you go ahead and say “Yes” to him, take a look at his heart. Before you fall head over heels in love, take a peep at his heart. Before you cross the borderline of love where the senses seems numbed and where reasoning is about to hibernate, travel into his heart and find out what is in there!

Why must you look at his heart? His heart is his life. His heart is his decisions. His heart is the reason he does what he does and the reason he would not do certain things. His heart is potpourri of his actions.

His heart will determine his disposition with God. His heart is a mirror of his values and priorities. His heart is the wardrobe from where he pulls out different apparels of behaviors. If he is good man, that goodness is resident in his heart. If he is an evil man, that wickedness lives within, in his heart. A man’s heart is so pivotal that when God is getting ready to examine you, He takes a look at the heart!

Dear pastor Dunamis, how do I  look at his heart? Doesn't the Bible say that man look at the outward and God looks at the heart? When I am not God, how do I take a look at his heart?

    Okay, I will tell you.

You take a look at his heart by paying attention to his words! Pastor, that simple? See what the scripture says:

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Luke 6:45 KJV)

You see it right there in the scripture. A good man brings out good from the good treasure in his heart, while an evil man brings out evil from the evil treasure in his heart. How do they bring forth? Through their words which betray their hearts!

You take a look at his heart by listening to what he says. What of when he pretends? He cannot pretend for long. If you allow your senses to work, and you are not already dulled by some love, you will be able to see his heart.

If you stay away from Jeru trap, your ears will be sound enough to hear his words. You see, what jeru trap does is that it brings confusion to your own soul, and you cannot even hear explicitly, and even when you are hearing things that are symptomatic of future problems, you don’t care again because your own soul is convoluted as a result of compromise.

This is why you don’t open your legs for somebody you just met few days back! That messes up the process of seeing his heart, because lust takes over and you focus on the body, rather than the heart. You consider his handsomeness, his height, his pocket and his dexterity on the bed, and you leave out the most important thing, which is his heart!

This is why you tell yourself, no compromise before marriage, and if he is insisting, then it is not worth it because you just saw his heart.

If he tells you that you are too religious, you just saw his heart and possible reaction in the future concerning your relationship with God.

If he tells you that there is nothing wrong with having several girlfriends, you just saw his heart and that in the future, he might cheat on you because in reality, double dating is rehearsal for adultery.

If he tells you he doesn’t believe in having mentors, and that there is no need for having a Pastor, you just saw his heart that he has accountability issues.

I can go on and on.

Before you give your heart out, check the heart that is about to receive your heart!
