The story of Adele, her pain, agony and frustrations

  • Her friends warned her not to go, but like the proverbial dog which refuses to heed the hunter’s whistle, she was adamant.

They told her of the possible dangers of following him to the night party, but she wanted fun.

Adele has been raised by godly parents, but the wind of generational trend and pressures caught her and held her by the jugular. The exuberance of the youthful life without discipline overwhelmed her. She wanted to live the life.

That night, the signs were ominous, but she turned the blind eye.

The smoke filled club, the smell of marijuana, the stinking breath of alcohol were not enough to send her scampering back to the land of reason and safety.

That night, the worst story of her life played out.

She got tipsy and threw caution to the wind. Severally, men whose hearts were evil, cruel and sinister took advantage of her and defiled her.

She found herself in the hospital by the next day, recuperating, full of pain, regret and a agony that will not go away.

    That happened three years ago…

Today, Adele is still a definition of pain and regret, the events played out everyday. It was a replay that would not stop in her brain.

She is now a child of God, forgiven by God, but she has not been able to forgive herself.

She kept blaming herself for her bad choice that night.

Just one night, and the course of her life was altered.

What a difference that just one night can make in altering a destiny.

What a difference that just one stupid decision can translate to!

    Her tears flowed endlessly.

Her inability to forgive herself made God's forgiveness unreal.

It is one thing for God to forgive you, and another for you to forgive you!

This is a ploy from hell. It was a foothold for the hordes of hell to stand on and attack Adele’s mind.

The devil told her, "God can never forgive you."

So, guilt built a house on the ground of her heart.

Guilt in turn opened the rooms for bitterness and doubt.

It was the perfect combination that exiled a Mephibosheth to Lodebar.

It was a perfect scenario where a prince becomes a slave, and royalty is desecrated into hibernation.

The unworthy feelings coupled with spiritual frustration, a life of doubt coupled with unanswered prayers became too much for her to handle.

    She became suicidal. Isolated. Disenfranchised.

Depression wrapped its arms around her head, the tears washed the powders away, and she seemed like a destiny that cannot be fixed.

As she contemplated suicide, she took up her Bible to read for just one last time.

The instrument of the suicide mission were all in place. Her mind was made up. Her mind fixated on death as the only way out of her misery.

She took her Amplified Bible which her parents gave her while coming to school.

    Her parents!

They would be so heart broken upon learning that she has crossed to the yonder.

But her mind was made up.

As she opened her Bible, it opened to Isaiah 60.

Here eyes were riveted to the very first verse.

    Isaiah 60:1 (AMP)

ARISE [ from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life ]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!

For the very first time, she felt God was speaking to her.

ARISE from the depression and prostration…

Energy unexplained, strength unaccounted for filled her heart. Hope stretched her hands and yanked off the depressive band that held her by the jugular.

The light of God’s word, shone forth in its brightness, a sword so strong and regal seemed to proceed from the light, cutting off and severing her from the captivity that has held her imprisoned.

In a moment of time, she knew she would die no longer. A transforming power lifted her out of the pit where she has found herself.

Gladness filled her milieu, her mourning turned into dancing, her feet moved in divine orchestration to a sound only she can hear.

The Spirit of God began to minister to her, and to several out there who are guilt ridden, to several out there who think God must be punishing them, to several out there who think the mistakes of the past can never be arrested from obfuscating the future.

    God is a forgiver.

    And a forgetter! Permit me!

    Hebrews 10:17 (KJV)

And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Yes, He forgives and He forgets.

    Hebrews 10:17 (MSG)

He concludes, I'll forever wipe the slate clean of their sins.

That slate where all you misdoings and mistakes are outlined, plotted in a hellish graph, and statistics analysed to your disadvantage, God takes it and cleans it with the blood of Jesus!

The slate is clean. God cannot remember again!
But even after all that, He still will not leave you!

You see, He is committed until it is completed.

He then restores! Hey! Are you kidding me?

    Yes! He restores.

    Joel 2:25-27 (KJV)

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.  [26]  And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.  [27]  And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

My dear, those years seemed wasted, but God says there is a place of restoration.

He is planning to do something in your life, that if you allow Him, you will forget every shame of the past.

    Isaiah 54:4 (MSG)

Don't be afraid—you're not going to be embarrassed. Don't hold back—you're not going to come up short. You'll forget all about the humiliations of your youth, and the indignities of being a widow will fade from memory.
    Gbam!

    The devil defeated!

    Mercy speaks for you!

If Rahab, the professional prostitute can become the great grandmother of Jesus, there is hope for you.

If Solomon, a child from David and Bathsheba can become a king, your royalty is in place.

Here are some of the things God requires from you.

    1. Ask for God’s forgiveness over careless lifestyle and mistakes
    2. Forgive yourself
    3. Stop all habitual sins. Run away from iniquity and compromise
    4. Move closer to God. Develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit
    5. Find a local assembly and worship there. Be a worker. Be spent for God.
    6. Stay close to God’s word. Read your Bible daily.
    7. Stay accountable. Find a mentor. Access wisdom
    8. Be a giver. Pay your tithe. Be financially responsible. Be disciplined.
    9. Discover purpose and prepare. Change your association and friendships if they are pulling you back
    10. Keep worshipping. Keep praising. Be a God-chaser.

I pray that God’s healing balm will flow over your soul, heal you, restore you and make you whole in Jesus name. It is a new day for you!
