  • Matthew 9:17 (KJV)
Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

    The year is ending.

But it had definitely come with a lot of experiences.

There had been victories, but there had been points of defeats as well.

There had been winning moments but there had been failure spots as well.

There had been joyful times but not without some sad mournful times too.

You give thanksgiving for the victories, but what do you do with the defeats?

You offer praises and adoration unto God for the winning moments, but what do you do with failure points?

You do thanksgiving and testimonies for joyful times but then the sad and mournful times pop up from somewhere where they have been hibernated in the subconscious.

What do you do with them?

Those times when you were rejected by a supposed suitor, jilted by a promising spouse-to-be, abandoned by a lover for another, hurt by your very own spouse, and with broken promises, what do you do with these experiences?

Here is what you do with them.

    Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.  [19]  Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

    Remember ye not…

    That is it.

It is a choice of what to remember and what to discard.

It is a decision of what to accommodate and what to eject forcefully.

It is a point where you exercise your choice on what is stored on your memory card and what is deleted and shredded off your mind.

    Remember ye not…

    Then it goes further;

…Neither consider the things of old.

The things of old are encumbrances to the things of the new.

The things of the old will obfuscate, hinder and obstruct the new.

The things of old are a stopper of the things of the new.

    Do not consider them.

Do not ponder over those negatives.

Do not give them a space in your hard disks.

Why do you have to "remember not" and "consider not?"

Behold, I do a new thing.

    Behold the new thing.

That is where the focus should be.

“Behold” means to consider and ponder carefully.

The energy of your sight should be concentrated on what He is about to do, not on the mistakes you have done!

    I make a way.

    I make rivers.

I bring possibilities into the coming year.

    Focus on that.

Let’s take a look at the Message Translation:

    Isaiah 43:18-19 (MSG)

"Forget about what's happened; don't keep going over old history.  [19]  Be alert, be present. I'm about to do something brand-new. It's bursting out! Don't you see it? There it is! I'm making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.

    Forget about what has happened.

A new thing is happening in my life

    PRAYER FOR THE DAY

Lord, take me into the new

    THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

    Matthew 9:17 (CEV)
No one pours new wine into old wineskins. The wine would swell and burst the old skins. Then the wine would be lost, and the skins would be ruined. New wine must be put into new wineskins. Both the skins and the wine will then be safe.
