What To Do In Times of Confusion As Singles And Married

  • Very soon, I might stop sending devotionals for three reasons!
    1. A lot of readers are not sharing the content
    2. You don’t leave comments after  reading. Your response and feedbacks are needed! Always drop a word on how the devotional blesses you or even ask a question. Click on "POST COMMENT" or Use Facebook Comments below.

    So repent today!

But seriously and by the grace of God, I will not stop! But I need us to step into these three areas the more as God enables us to make this work easier and spread faster. God bless you as you do so.
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. (Psalms 71:1 KJV)
Today, we will take a break on the story of Christie. We will get back to it as the inspiration flows.
Today, I want to look at a very important issue that affects singles and married couples alike. I get phone calls and messages daily from every continent on earth, without exaggeration. Different people who wanted to be counseled.
One constant statement I hear all the time is “Pastor, I am confused, I don’t know what to do!” We all know that confusion is not from God.
    The scripture says
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. (1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV)
Confusion comes from the devil. A relationship or marriage full of confusion will eventually break down.
    Take a look here:

The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. (Isaiah 24:10 KJV)
The next pertinent question then is “what are the causes of confusion?”
Let’s take a look at some of them. If you are able to know what causes confusion, then you can avoid those things.
What are the causes of confusion?
    1. When you have stopped reading your Bible

The word of God is life. In Him is life and the life is the light of men. When you have stopped rubbing minds with divinity through His word, the next thing is that confusion will set in.
If the word of God brings life and light, then it means when you have not been reading your Bible, there will be death and darkness. Click To Tweet
This may not be physical death in its initial instance, but certainly it will be death of direction and this is what brings confusion.
    2. When you ignore His voice

The Spirit of God is always seeking to lead us. He speaks to us daily and every time. When you choose to ignore His voice and you follow the intent of your heart, it will always result in confusion.
    3. When you disobey God and refuse to follow his principles

Obedience to God and His word brings peace of mind. Disobedience to God and His word brings confusion.
The word of God is full of principles. When you follow those principles, you will never be disappointed.
We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God. (Jeremiah 3:25 KJV)
    4. When you start seeing more than one person at a time

When you are in a relationship with more than one person at a time, you will surely be confused because God’s order has been violated.
Adam said “this is the bone of my bone and the flesh of my flesh…but when you are involved with more than one person at a time, how do you say that?
“God, which of the bones is my bone and which of the flesh(es) is my flesh? That’s sounds absurd.
    5. When you dabble into a sexual sin

A sexual compromise will lead you into confusion. God doesn’t want you meddling with jeru trip before marriage! Click To Tweet
There will always be confusion at such scenarios, because God’s order has been violated.
The next important question then is what do I do when I am confused? How do you get out of confusion? Let’s take a look at some of them.
    1. Retrace your steps back to God

Find your way back to God. Remember the prodigal son? While he wasted away and was dining with pigs, the scripture says He came to himself.
That is the first thing you need to do. You need to come to yourself! Get back into the waiting hands of your father. This is the beginning of clarity of mind and restoration of all lost things.
    2. Ask for forgiveness of sin and consecrate yourself

The next thing to do is to consciously ask God to forgive you. Listen to me; don’t let the devil tell you that you are too far gone. That is a lie from the pit of hell. God is able to save from the gutter-most to the uttermost!
Then, go ahead and consecrate yourself afresh before God.
    3. Disconnect from partners in sin and all ungodly associations and influences

Association is powerful. The next thing is to cut off completely from all negative influences. Delete the numbers! Don’t go to their houses again! Save yourself! You don’t need to be sentimental about it, because this is about your destiny! Relationships are not by force but by choice!
    4. Connect to a mentor

Find a mentor to talk to constantly! Let him or her guide you. A mentor is somebody who has done what you are trying to do. He has wisdom in his heart that will cure every foolishness.
One year of broken heart and untold agony can be prevented by one statement from a mentor who speaks into your life! Locate your mentor.
In mentoring, there is a mutual embrace! You don’t force yourself on anybody and you don’t allow yourself to be manipulated into a mentoring arrangement you are not comfortable with!
By the time, your so-called mentor is making advances at you; you need to run for your life, because that is a tormentor, and not a mentor.
A mentor advises you and prays for you. You seek his or her advice and you give to your mentor that His grace might work for you! If somebody is mentoring you, pouring into your life, it is in order to give to that person, not because that person is in lack but that you will not be in lack of wisdom and substance!
Mike Murdock says it is a fraud not to give back to a mentor or pastor pouring revelation knowledge into you.
    5. Never miss reading your Bible

Never miss reading your Bible again. It sustains you daily. It is food for your soul. It is life for your Spirit. It helps you daily not to fall into temptation!
    6. Always ask Him for direction

Always ask God for what to do and what not to do. Speak to Him all the time and He will speak back to your heart.
    7. Trust God and His word always
Trust Him. He is interested in you and He will not lead you wrong. Click To Tweet
