A Stronghold In Your Mind

2 Corinthians 10:3-4
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;" 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
When most people see the word strongholds, immediately, they think of demons and devils. That's not what Paul is referring to here.
Let's read verses 4 and 5 without breaking it up:
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;" 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
The strongholds that he is referring to are thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to the Word of God. We have become very good at casting out devils when we should have been casting down thoughts.
Paul was warning us to cast down thoughts and imaginations that are contrary to God's Word because they will create strongholds in our minds.
A sustained negative thought will certainly become a stronghold.
". . . tearing down barriers . . . clearing the ground of every obstruction . . ." (The Message Bible)
Wrong thoughts will create barriers in your life.
The Apostle Paul says we have the weapons necessary to pull down every negative thought and imagination that is contrary to God's Word. This is not something you do occasionally. It's something you have to do every single day.
But notice that the Apostle Paul never said to cast down all imaginations. He said to cast down only those that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.
Your imagination is not evil. It can become evil when you loan it to the devil. Your imagination is a God-given gift. Without it, you couldn't receive anything from God.
Your imagination is a God-given gift. It's not an evil thing. God gave you your imagination so that you could conceive an image of what He says in His Word that He wants for your life.
If you can imagine His promises in your life, then you will obtain them.
