Generally regarded as the fastest man alive, Jamaican great, Usain Bolt has released a press statement that he will be retiring from the sports he has dominated for over a decade, after the World Athletics Championships in 2017. The Rio 2016 Olympics will also be his last Olympics as an athlete.

Bolt holds the world records for the 100 meters, 9.58 seconds, the 200 meters, 19.19 seconds, and the 4x100 meters relay, 36.84 seconds.

After getting the backing of his coach, Glen Mills, and continued support from sponsors, he intends retiring on a high note. He said, "I live for competition. I thrive on competition. I live to compete against the best. It means a lot when you beat the best."
