She said i'm not her perfect man

We were course mate in the university and became quite close before we graduated. I've been trying to ask her out but every attempt was never successful, I was sure I had real feelings for her and was ready to stay focused till she agrees. Recently she opened up by telling me I wasn't her type, this got me heartbroken but I'm still determined to give her time. Please what is your sincere advise on this.
