    You've got to have something unique, whether it's your story, it's your voice or it's your lyrics, it's the sound of your instrument or it's the combination of all of these different factors.

    Cobhams Emmanuel Asuquo (a.ka Cobhams Asuquo) was born 6th January, 1981 in Jos, Nigeria.

    He is a Music Producer, Singer and Songwriter. He plays vocals (uses is voice to make sounds or music), Piano and Guitar. He started his music career as a child when he puffed his cheeks to play the 12-bar blues. His academic training started as a lawyer, he gave up the training to pursue his passion – Music.

    In 1999, he became active in his passion.

    In 2005, he signed on to Sony ATV, London as a song writer.

    In 2006, he started his own facility – Cobhams Asuquo Music Production (CAMP). He is also the Head of Production. The vision of his company is to discover, nurture and expose great talents.

    In 2007, worked with Asa whose debut album became an international hit that same year.

    In 2009, July 13, World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) hosted Cobhams at its Conference in Switzerland and also selected him to perform during the concert.

    In 2010, December 2, Cobhams got married to his hearthrob – Ojuolape Veronica Olukanni. They have a son.

    In 2011, he was featured in CNN's Africans Voices where he talked about how being blind had been more of an advantage than a disadvantage to him.

    In the same year, Cobhams produced Bez's debut album 'Super Sun' which was enlisted on The Boston Globe's top ten list of best 'world music' albums of 2011.

    In 2012, he spoke at TEDxEuston about 'The Gift of Blindness'

    In 2013, Cobhams shared his experience with BBCNews on how being blind has worked for him rather than worked against him.

    In 2014, he was nominated as the Best Vocal Performance (male) for his most recent single – Ordinary People at The Headies. In the same year he was awarded Best Recording for the same song by the same organisation.

    Artists Produced: Bez Idakula, Stan Iyke, Timi Dakolo, Omawumi, Banky W. Asa, Dare Art-Alade, Waje, Rooftop MCs, Faze, Mode 9, Ego, Shola Allyson, Djinee, Maintain. Etc.

    Production Work: He wrote and co-wrote “Fire on the Mountain” and “Jailer” by Asa, he arranged music and performed with bands at international music events including The Harare International Festival of Arts, the AFA Sponsored French Cultural Center Concert with Asa and Angelique Kidjo; FA Sponsored French Cultural Center Concert in Johannesburg, South Africa, Nigeria Week in Paris and the launch of MTV's 100th channel (MTV Base) Africa at Abuja, Nigeria.

    Film Works: He has composed and arranged film scores for conservatories, film and stage performances such as “A Voice for Ella” by Uche Macaulay, Sunshine (Alpha Vision), “Bent Arrows” by Isang Awah and Communication for Change's “Bayelsan Sillhouttes.”

    Awards: The Nigerian Award for British Council's International Young Music Entrepreneur of the year, Producer of the year at The Future Awards (2006 and 2009) and The Hip Hop Award (2007 and 2009), Producer of the Decade, The Nigerian Music Awards (NMA 2008) and also LEAP Africa Award 2007 for his “Creativity, Fortitude and Exemplary Leadership in The Music Industry” The Partnership Awards 2008; “Supporting the Worship for Change Concert” and One Gospel Awards for “Gospel Composer/Writer of the Year Award (2008).
