Concerning Labours and Heavy Loads In Relationships

The very sight evoked pity. His face has gone leathery from the intensity of the sun that angrily opened its bowel of heat upon him day after day, rolling into months and nosediving into years.

Painful years of labouring without commensurate reward. His hands, as rough as ever, had nails filled with brown dirt as if dipped in a bowl of chocolate that later dried.

He had taken up the job of a wheelbarrow pusher to make ends met.

His neck, bent permanently, as a result of daily carrying of loads. Bags of rice, bags of cement, bags of beans are a few types that have graced his head.

The man is labouring and heavy laden.

Jesus made a passionate call to such people.

Mat 11:28 (KJV)
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

However, the labour here is not all of physical loads, but spiritual loads that are so heavy that a man or woman would fall sick.

What are these spiritual loads that Jesus said you should bring?

Jesus identified them earlier on in that chapter.

1. Offence

Mat 11:6 (KJV)
And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Offence is a labour. A heavy load.

2. Dissatisfaction

Mat 11:16-17 (KJV)
But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,  [17]  And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

These two things mentioned above are loads, heavy loads, that can bend any destiny.

Jesus is inviting you and giving you a clarion call!

See what he promised He will do.

Mat 11:29 (KJV)
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

What is His yoke?

It is the discipline and time spent in studying God's word. This yoke of studying and seeking God is rest at the end of the day.

Perhaps you will understand it more in Message Translation:

Mat 11:29 (MSG)
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

Praise God!

No more offence! No more complaints! No more dissatisfaction! May you find true rest in Him!

CONFESSION FOR THE DAY
I will not be offended

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
O Lord, take away every offence from my life

THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Mat 11:6 (AMPC)  And blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is he who takes no offense at Me and finds no cause for stumbling in or through Me and is not hindered from seeing the Truth.

ACTION PLAN FOR THE DAY
Forgive
