Episode 9 - Five Lessons Learnt While Married To A Pastor

Wow, it looks like yesterday, but it has been almost 19 years of marriage. Not just marrying any body but being married to a pastor - a man of God. I would have been married to my husband for 19 years in November this year.
In this edition of diary of a pastor's wife, I would like to share 5 major lessons I have learnt in my years of being married to a pastor.
My husband have had a strong sense of calling since his 300 level in the University. Shortly after he rededicated his life, he had an encounter with the Holy Spirit and since then he knew he was called to be in Ministry full time. My husband never worked in the secular for one day.
So here are the five lessons
1. Faithful is He that has called.
Whether you are called or not, you still live in this world and you still have to relate to this world. That means you have to eat, live in a house, pay your house rent and do all the normal things every body does. That means you have to have the currency spent on earth, money. My husband started straight into the Ministry, right from when he graduated. He had to serve in a small, growing church and had to trust God to survive.
But from that time up till now, I can say God has been more than faithful. Faithful to supply our needs, no matter how basic they are.
One of my husband's favourite scripture has been
1Th 5:24 (KJV)
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
I want you to know if you are called that like Kenneth Hagin said, it will look like you will sink, die and be grounded but you will not sink, you will not die and you will not be grounded.
I can tell countless stories of how God showed up for us up till now. He is indeed faithful that has called.
2. Follow He that called you
He that called you is a living entity, He can lead, he can speak, he can direct. So wait for His direction. He ordered the goods, so allow Him pay for them. He may lead you round, but He won't lead you wrong if you will follow Him. (has been one of my favourite phrases.) And yes, He will not lead you wrong so far as you are following Him.
The main thing in being called is learning to follow He that called you. Learning to hear His voice and follow his leading.
There are rigours of divine direction, which may not be palatable. But the end is always sweet. God will start you from the scratch, the bottom and now expect you to grow as you follow Him.
Your success in ministry is as much as you can follow Him and His leading. You are to discover His different ways of leading.
The particular ways He leads you. You must not be too fast ahead of Him.
You must learn to trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding Pro 3:5
