How Does God Tell Who Your Spouse Is?

Oftentimes, we hear of one story after another from married couples, telling of how they knew their spouses were “the ones.”

And I want to give a scenario of two amazing couples: Couple A and Couple B.

So here goes Couple A:

Questioner: How did you know your wife was the one?
Husband: (smiles blushingly at wife before he replies) My wife and I were friends at the initial stage of our relationship until the Lord told me she was my wife. I just heard His still small voice in my heart and that was how I knew.

Questioner: Awesome!!

Over to Couple B:

Questioner: So, how did you know she was going to be your wife?
Husband: (also smiles blushingly at wife before he replies) It was in a vision and a dream too. The Lord showed me who she was going to be even before I met her. So, when I eventually saw her, I knew she was the one for me.
Questioner: Amazing!!
(Interview over)

How does this relate to the topic? Simple!

Oftentimes, in the Christian community, hearing the still small voice of the Lord concerning one’s future spouse is often belittled.

The experience of couple B is often regarded as more powerful or more potent than Couple A’s experience because the husband had a VISION!

Like it was a VISION!

Well, let me break this down to you. Having a vision or a dream about who your future spouse is going to be isn’t more important than hearing God’s voice in your heart.

Why? Because it is still God communicating His thoughts to you in various ways.

As a matter of fact, hearing God’s voice in your heart and having a vision or dream are basically the same thing. You know why? Because to hear from God is to see visions.

Let’s take a look at Habakkuk’s experience in Habakkuk 2:1-2:

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and I will WATCH what He will SAY unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, write the VISION, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

Habakkuk was watching what God will say. When God speaks, it is not just words, it is VISION.

That’s how to get a God-given vision from God about your future spouse.

WATCH what God will SAY: either through His inner voice in your heart or through visions and dreams that are actually from Him.

Don’t dictate or choose how God should speak to you about your future spouse because you feel one means of God’s communication is better or weightier than the other.
Just watch what God will say with an open heart.

CONFESSION OF THE DAY
My heart is open to see what you will say to me

I decide today to place importance on the spoken word of God.

BIBLE READING OF THE DAY
Habakkuk 2:1-2:
