How To Respect Him Without Disrespecting God

We have been on the issue of respect and how important it is to the guys and how much it will help establish peace in our relationship.

Naturally, I believe ladies find it easy to respect, appreciate and give honor but I guess the problem is when guys hurt them, they tend to withdraw their respect.

It is human and logical to give respect when it is deserved and earned. I can easily respect my dad, my boss, my pastor because position-ally, they occupy vital positions in my life. I see them as deserving.

When it comes to relationships, your boo is different from your boss and dad because emotions are involved and you know him on a closer level. You have seen his weaknesses, his vulnerability and his fears. At one point or another he must have also hurt you, offended or disappointed you. All these makes respect or his value in your sight decrease if care is not taken.

You should guard against allowing all these affect the way you see or perceive your boo. Understand that respect is God's order and instruction. When you respect him, you are respecting God's order and the marriage covenant, you are actually respecting God through him.

Five ways to respect him without disrespecting God

1. Respect is first of all from the mind

The person you do not value in your heart or mind you cannot value in reality. You have to come to a point of acceptance that your man is your head. You can not change that. You have to accept your position joyfully and enjoy your role as a woman. God does not make mistake or create errors.

So you honor God by honoring the person he has placed in authority over you positionally. You help him function in that role. For some, it is easier to respect them because their personality commands it. For some guys, it is easy to take them for granted. You have to often remind yourself, it's your duty to respect them.

2. Learn how to respect him

For some ladies respect has not modeled to them in their home. They never saw their mum really respect their dad in that sense. No special respect or attention. Like any good virtue, you have to learn and be educated. For some ladies, it may not come naturally to them to respect maybe because of their choleric temperament or background. Whichever way, you have to humble yourself and learn to respect him out of respect for God.

3. Get the definition of respect and act out the meaning

The practical way to respect him is to practice the meaning. Foe example, respect means to admire, so you ask yourself, ' 'how can I admire this guy and keep admiring him?'.

Anytime you do anything opposite of admiration, you retrace your steps. Always ask yourself is this respect or disrespect?

Whenever you catch yourself doing anything that looks disrespectful, tell yourself, "I won't do that and disrespect God."

When Joseph was tempted with fornication with Portiphar's wife, what helped him was, 'I will not do this and sin against God'.

His ultimate motivation was "not sinning against God." If you see the issue of respect in that light, it will help you.

I will conclude on this tomorrow.
