Some Thoughts On Falling In Love

Falling in love. It is phrase that catches the attention of all. The anticipation of falling in love can be very interesting and the actual experience can be very euphoric and full of ecstasy, if done the right way. It is an adrenaline pumping, tummy rumbling and eye bulging experience!
When do you fall in love? Who do you fall in love with? How do you fall in love? Why fall in love? We will be looking at all these.
The first question is when do you fall in love?
I am going to answer the question by addressing when not to fall in love. Sometimes you know how to do something by knowing what not to. There are times you fall in love and you end up doing yourself a lot of harm. Falling in love is not what you do when you like.
So when are those wrong times to fall in love?
1. Don’t fall in love when you are in your teenage years
Now teenagers are going to disagree with me on this, because that is an age and season that you feel you know what you are doing.
It is an age when your parents suddenly become “old school”, slow and archaic, when in reality it is you going through a transition into maturity!
When you fall in love in those early years especially with a wrong person, a lot of harm can be done, because you don’t yet understand what love is!
A lot of what you feel is infatuation, not love, and those are two different things. Really, that is a time that will be well managed if you listen more to your parents and mentors. A word is enough for the wise.
The fact that you in a higher institution or college by fifteen years of age means nothing, really. The pressure from your environment and from friends is not what you should succumb to at such times.
By the time you are past twenty, you can start thinking of serious relationships because by that time, you already have some emotional maturity to handle being abused or taken advantaged of by more matured boyfriends and girlfriends.
Imagine a twenty six year old guy falling in love with a fifteen-year old girl? That is nothing other than child abuse! He will definitely take advantage of her and capitalize on her naivety!
2. Don’t fall in love during examination times
It is just a simple advice. If you don’t want to fail your examination in love, then don’t fall in love during examination time!
You know that happened to me? I fell in love with my wife while on campus during examination time in my final year!
I will be reading GRP 405, and I will see her face in my notebooks! How did her face get there? I just wondered. Well, I did pass my examination but it was God that helped me.
Seriously! So when you see that beautiful girl, and your heart starts to race and palpitate, before making a move and establishing some commitments, remember that you have an examination to write the following week. The “falling in love can wait,” but the examination cannot wait!
I hope that with these few reasons of mine, I have been able to convince you and not confuse you! Lol...
