Watch out for Deception and Lies

We started yesterday discussing the issue of character flaws where we established that your character plays an important role in the success of your relationship.

Today, I will conclude on this subject and discuss the dangers of these major character flaws and how to watch out for them in your relationship.

The two major character flaws I will like to write about this morning are

1. Lying
2. Deception
Almost every other sin hangs or hinges on these two.

Deception and lying also work together. It takes lying to deceive and to lie you have to deceive.
Note that the very first temptation the devil used for the first relationship God gave Man - Adam & Eve was to deceive and lie to Eve.

So any where you see lies and deception, it’s the operation of the devil. It should not be taken lightly or for granted. The devil always aims to steal, kill and destroy.

1. Lying

Simply put, you lie when you do not say the truth about a situation, an issue, or person. One degree away from the truth is a lie.

Lies shows a lack of integrity and the person that lies as a life style is no person of honor.

The same heart that can accommodate lies will accommodate adultery, stealing and every other character flaws.

No matter how good looking, nice or even anointed a person is, once he or she lies. It’s a danger sign before entering a relationship.

Symptoms of lying
1. Fear of owning up.
2. Desire for affirmation or acceptance in a wrong way.
3. A love to cover up wrong actions.
4. When he / she enjoys to play on other people’s intelligence.
5. When a person wants to live with a false identity.
6. When the person can not answer questions simply

The danger of lying is that it doesn’t stop at lying, it graduates into other character flaws. It can also lead to hurts, pains, losses, heart aches and even death.

You need to watch out for lies before falling in love. Once you are in love it becomes more difficult to detect these lies.

2. Deception

To deceive is to mislead by a false appearance or statement, to mislead or falsely persuade others. It’s an attempt to play on another person’s emotions and intelligence.

A deceitful person will cover up wrong action by false hood.

With deception comes insincerity and lack of openness, which is a major source of crisis in relationships.

Symptoms of deception
1. When he /she enjoys not being straight forward.
2. When he/she likes to cover up things,
3. When he /she is not truthful about personal or any other issues
4. When he/she is insincere about issues.
5. When he /she enjoys exaggerating.
6. When he/she doesn’t like you to accept fault or take responsibility for a wrong action.

Watch out for Signs of deception before falling in love. A deceptive person doesn’t have the capacity to love because his/her heart is filled with deception. You never know where he or she is actually headed!
