Nigerian military force claim to have killed over 300 Boko Haram militants in a counter-attack operation to recapture 11 towns from terrorist control. Reuters reports that the report has not been verified and authorities have exaggerated the military’s progress in the past.

Defense spokesperson Major-General Chris Olukolade said in a statement released to the press, "(Boko Haram) Weapons and equipment were also captured and some destroyed. However, two soldiers lost their lives while 10 others were wounded.”

A combine force of Cameroon and Chad are also fighting back against the terrorist group, according to reports. Cameroon army spokesman Colonel Didier Badjeck reported that Chad’s air force carried out air strikes against Boko Haram assisted by Cameroonian forces in the village of Gourgouroon.

Boko Haram has claim responsibility for thousands of deaths since its formation in 2009, but Reuters reports, “…in the past two weeks the tide has appeared to turn against them, as neighbors Chad, Cameroon and Niger, all of whom are plagued by Boko Haram insurgents, have stepped in.”
