The Super Eagles coach and former Eagles Captain, Stephen Keshi has had his contract reviewed with a 20% reduction in his basic salary as head coach. The ‘Big Boss will now receive N4m every month from then N5m In his previous contract.

Well, the reason is not farfetched from the fact that the Nigerian football house is on the receiving end of the on-going crash in international oil price which in turn has brought in austere measures in the sports ministry and has affected monetary allocation to the Federation. A source from inside the NFF Glass house gave this hint and also added that this is in reality of the current economic situation of the country that there is no need offering the coach N10m and eventually struggling to pay half of that. His manger had pressed for N7m to be paid to his client.

His new contract will run till 2017 with the condition for extension will tied to his ability to reach at least the semi-final stage of the 2017 AFCON holding in South Africa. The Federation will be expecting his acceptance or otherwise this week as Keshi is also being linked with other coaching roles.
